Ken-Cynthia-Elena-Casa Tango

“Our family (myself, my wife, and our one-year-old daughter) an done of our close friends recently spent 10 days at Casa Tango. It was one of the best and most memorable vacations of our lives. Our host was Agustin Bas - throughout our vacation, Agustin made sure that we had everything we needed, and also introduced us to the friendly people and natural beauty of Boca de Tomatlan. Casa Tango is a simple, open-air house right on the bay in Boca. To get there, you either wade across the river mouth and then walk along a lovely jungle trail, or you can hire a boat at the beach. If the river is running high, or if you just don't feel like getting your feet wet, there is a bridge across the river to the village a bit further inland. We really enjoyed our walks to and from the village on the trail. Along the way, we often saw huge iguanas, birds, and even a snake once (don't worry, they keep their distance!). Although Boca de Tomatlan is a small town, it is easy to find good food and friendly people. There are a couple of small markets in town for all the essentials, as well as many fishermen who can sell you fresh-caught local fish right from the boats. There are also a number of decent restaurants to try out. Most of our time in Boca was spent whiling away the warm days on the balcony of Casa Tango overlooking the bay. It was so beautiful. We were there in the rainy season - June - so we were treated to wonderful tropical storms on many afternoons. Don't let anyone discourage you from travelling to this area during the wet season. There was still plenty of sunshine, the rain was generally short-lived, and the experience of being in the midst of the jungle while the rain came down and the thunder rolled is not to be missed! The water-facing side of Casa Tango is open-air. The windows are screened, but without glass. This makes for a delightful experience when sleeping because you can feel the warm tropical breeze (it never gets cool enough even for a light sweater), enjoy the sound of the ocean and hear the rainforest chirping around you in the night. If you are looking for a Club Med, or a Hilton with all the caviar you can eat, stay in Puerto Vallarta. However, if you're a bit more adventurous and enjoy real hospitality, personality, and the chance to vacation in a genuine Mexican paradise, don't pass up an opportunity to experience Boca de Tomatlan and Casa Tango!”
